"'The Kingston High' has two of the freshest lead actors I've seen in a while. It also has a heart and a charming un-hipness that it isn't afraid to wear on its sleeve--rare in teen movies."

Story Synopsis

The Kingston High is an urban coming of age story about a high school misfit's last chance to get the girl of his dreams. Regretting his lack of high school "extracurricular" activity and finally skipping out on his prom, Sketch has an epiphany that escalates into one night of unadulterated partying. Putting his insecurities aside, Sketch makes a bet with his pals that he will win the love of a girl that has been the object of his affection for the past four years.

Now, determined to make prom night one that they'll always remember, Sketch and his crew canvass LA crashing after-parties, meeting girls and running from a violently jealous boyfriend - all in the name of love...or maybe just a good high.

The Film (93 minutes - Comedy)

The Kingston High was digitally filmed on location in South Los Angeles on a shoestring budget. Townsend called on talents from MTV and DreamWorks SKG and friends from as far back as elementary school to assist in the production of his first feature. The film boasts the underground musical artistry of acts from Oakland to Amsterdam. While the story is not completely autobiographical, the director says it does echo some experiences from his own youth.

"Ultimately, The Kingston High is a metaphor for mind expansion. It's about challenging the preconceived notions we have about each other, listening to our hearts and realizing that the "holy grail" we seek may be right where we least expect it."

- Stephen Townsend, Executive Producer\Writer\Director
