The
story for The Kingston High originated with one of my greatest
frustrations in high school - dealing with the opposite sex. I
never understood why even the really "good" girls were attracted
to "roughnecks" (which was the original title of the script).
I had a crush on a girl very much like Trina - attractive, smart,
bi-racial and sadly attracted to a guy who really didn't take
her very seriously. After a year of chasing after this girl, I
finally got a date with her primarily because her friends seemed
to like me. Man, I was really on cloud 9 for that summer. But
in retrospect, I knew all along that it wasn't going to last.
I may be wrong about this, but I think a guy chasing after a girl
who's lukewarm about him is much worse off than the other way
around. The guy seems to inevitably get dumped if he's too
into any girl. I discovered the hard way that girls aren't really
into guys that will do anything for them. So I got dumped. On
the other hand guys will take advantage of a girl for worshipping
the ground he walks on.
