Getting High

It's in our nature to be pampered. So, my simple theory for the male\female dilemma is this: Women are attracted to men who are providers\protectors (ballers and roughnecks who, on very rare occasion, are sensitive) and men are attracted to women who are providers\visually appealing (motherly, sympathetic, sexually-generous vixens) Tough combo, eh gals? Anyway, that's how the idea for the story was born.

It was April of 1997 when I left work one night and headed straight to URL (UCLA's University Research Library) where I sat in the stacks with my pepper colored composition book to begin outlining "Rough Necks." It took me about a year to finish the first draft. I'd finished about half of it and stopped for a while only inspired to start writing again after hearing of a friend selling his first screenplay for six figures. While I was happy for my pal, I admit being a bit envious. I finished the first draft of The Kingston High about two months later.
